I'm Joe Hoover. I'm a Principal AI Scientist at IR Labs.

I build AI systems that help people explore complex spaces, discover what matters, and make decisions under uncertainty.

Previously, I led research on automated evaluation for generative AI features at Apple and worked on LLM platform infrastructure at Replicate.

Before industry, I did a PhD at USC, focused on computational social science and NLP, with an emphasis on probabilistic modeling and inference from large-scale text and behavioral data.
